Cv/bioScott Stoll has lived in Maine for the past 20 years where his life and work has found natural companionship with the environment of forest and sea. Scott has recently turned to full-time sculpting, after many years of work in the health and human services. He was a VISTA volunteer in NYC, a peace corps volunteer in Guatemala, and provided healthcare and basic services to the homeless in Boston and Portland, Maine. He is self-taught as a sculptor and received drawing instructions at the Art Student's League's of both NYC and Boston. He works in mixed media and directly carving stone and wood. Scott also produces work through a variety of casting techniques, including bronze. He welcomes studio visits in Portland at 656 Congress Street. Call (207) 671-3992 for an appointment to visit the studio. Scott travels to the Caribbean and Latin America for expanded inspiration and to escape a fierce Maine winter. This winter he was awarded a fellowship to the Julia and David White Artist Colony in Costa Rica for the month of February. |
